Brooklyn Greenway Initiative

Brooklyn Greenway Initiative’s (BGI) office is centrally located along a 26 mile Greenway on Brooklyn’s Waterfront. The new design of the 600 square foot office increases the visibility and functionality of the space for the dozens of events and meetings hosted throughout the year. The new storefront creates a dynamic interface with the adjacent sidewalk by taking unused internal space and making it public as a covered bench and bike repair area. Much needed benches and bike racks are also incorporated into the streetscape. Inside, a display system and conference table are unified through the use of reclaimed wood. At night the lit glass storefront is a beacon, with the BGI map and name projected onto the sidewalk to catch the eye of passersby in this increasingly active district.
