South Middle House

More photos forthcoming!

This 2,500 square foot two-bedroom house will sit on a wooded hillside in western Massachusetts with extraordinary north views extending as far as the Pack Monadnock Range in New Hampshire. The clients are a couple, both professors, who spend many hours each day reading and writing. As they look towards retirement, they are fulfilling a lifelong dream to live and work in a modern home with a captivating view. The plan is configured to take maximum advantage of those views and of north daylight. The clients intend to age in place, so the house is designed to allow single level living, with a master bedroom suite with accessible bath on the ground floor, and no-step entries from the garage and screen porch. A second master suite occupies the upper floor, which they will use as long as possible since the views are even better from this level.
