South Middle House

This 2,500 square foot two-bedroom house sits on a wooded hillside in western Massachusetts with extraordinary north views extending as far as the Pack Monadnock Range in New Hampshire. The clients are a couple, both professors, who spend many hours each day reading and writing. In building the house , they are fulfilling a lifelong dream of living and working in a modern home with spectacular views. The plan is configured to take maximum advantage of those views and of north daylight. The clients intend to age in place, so the house is designed to allow single level living, with a primary bedroom suite with accessible bath on the ground floor, and no-step entries from the garage and screen porch.
